I really enjoyed this book. It is my first by Crystal Walton, but certainly not my last. This story follows Emma, a college student trying to find her way in life. She is a very likeable character and is surrounded by great friends. She has caught the eye of two young men. One who is a talented musician who helps her bring out her own creativity. One who is more of an athlete, but not a total jock, who has a great sense of humor and brings laughter to Emma's life. She gives her heart to one and the other wants her heart more than anything. If it were me, it would be a tough call. I love Riley for his recognizing her strengths and helping her realize them. I love A.J. because he's charming and funny and such a good friend. There is so much more than a love triangle going on in this book. It's not full of angst. Emma has other personal matters going on, but doesn't burden anyone with them. She has a great relationship with her brother. The other characters have depth and you like all of them. They all are doing their own thing, but they all do a lot together. If I have any complaints, it would be that I would have liked more about the music, especially for Emma.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's a clean, sweet read and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series to see what happens with Emma, Riley, A.J. and the rest of the gang. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys clean romance with engaging characters. Please note this is the first book in a series, therefore the story continues on in other books. It's not an issue for me, but some readers don't like that.

Eyes Unveiled Unveiled Series Volume 1 Crystal Walton 9780986288210 Books Reviews
This is a really beautiful story built upon the dreams, hopes, fears and zest for life that lives within the heart of young adults like no one else! And it's exposed and expressed brilliantly by this author with a sensitivity, vulnerability and reality that is respectful, refreshing and truly touching. It reminded me of my own dreams, hopes, heartaches and fears at the same stage of my own life...it's just THAT good!!! This story is definitely a character driven drama but with such exquisitely created characters it's still easy to get lost in the storyline. This is a true romance novel without salacious sex scenes that aren't needed to spice up the story for attention or detract attention from what might be missing in a lesser work of art. It's a really fabulous story for YA readers but just as enjoyable and refreshing for those who are well beyond that description.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. Normally, I'm not drawn to books written in the first person. After reading Eyes Unveiled, it changed my opinion of that point of view. Crystal does a fantastic job of drawing us into Emma's world and it wouldn't have been the same if it'd been written in any other way.
One of the most striking things about Crystal's writing is her ability to use words to paint vivid, descriptive pictures.
I was invested in the story from early on and had a difficult time putting the book down to do anything else! The love triangle between Emma, Riley, and A.J. is well done. I truly cared about all of the characters in the book.
If you enjoy books that are emotionally driven and heartfelt, you'll love Eyes Unveiled!
I was so excited to read “Eyes Unveiled” after receiving a free copy in exchange for an honest review. From the moment I started reading, “Eyes Unveiled”, I was hooked, and couldn’t put it down. Crystal Walton’s descriptive language and writing style helped to transport me into the story, and create a heart-felt connection with the characters in the book. I loved being a part of the story as it unfolded, I giggled, laughed out loud, and cried along with the characters as their journey moved forward! I am anxiously awaiting the release of the next book to continue along with them. I truly enjoyed the emotion of the story and it took me back to all those formative friendships that have helped me through life’s journey.
As a busy mom of two I am very selective with what I read on my down time. This was definitely time well spent! Loved it!
I really enjoyed this story. My favorite part was how descriptive the author was in her imagery. The language and phrases used were very poetic. It might be too “flowery” for some, but I really enjoyed it. There were a few editing mistakes, and I kept tripping over the best-friend’s name “Jaycee.” It must have been used one hundred times, and every time I had to read it multiple times. My brain wanted to say Jace, but then I would remind myself that it’s supposed to sound like Casey or Lacey. I couldn’t get the name to stick, and it ruined the flow of the story for me every time. I wish a different name had been used, but I suppose that’s just personal preference.
I liked the book enough that I bought the rest of the series.
The first time I tried to read this book I could not get into it. It was my fault; I was in a terrible mood and had no wish to read anything involving romance. Because I was in such a bad mood, I knew I wouldn’t give this book the chance it deserved. So I put it down for the time being to pick up again later. I am glad I did- the second time I really enjoyed it. While a major focus of the novel is the love story between Emma and Riley, other themes of the novel include friendship, and balancing school work, family, and internships.
Emma and Riley have a lot in common. They are both majoring in fields they don’t enjoy, they both play guitar, and they both are fascinated with each other. Often Emma trys to please everyone around her, even when it makes her unhappy. Riley won’t go for his dream because he is afraid he will become someone he doesn’t want to be. It was fascinating to watch how Emma and Riley can see each others’ gifts, talents and worth, but not see their own.
Crystal Walton’s novel encourages her readers to go for their dreams, even when it’s not easy. She also points out that sometimes you just need someone who believes in you, especially when you no longer believe in yourself.
A perfect summer read so go check it out.
